(from Alaskan Brewing Co. via North American Clonebrews)
- Steeped 1.25 lb each of Pilsner and Munich malts in a grain bag for 45 min at 150 F.
- Added 5 lb light dry malt extract and brought to a boil.
- Added 4 AAU Mt. Hood hops (pellets) and boiled 45 min.
- Added 4 AAU Spalt hops (pellets) and boiled for 15 min.
- cooled to 68 F and pitched European Ale Yeast (White Labs Pitchable)
This wort ended up with an OG of 1.040, even though the recipe said it would be closer to 1.050. It still tasted pretty good, though, so I’m sure it’ll be fine. We went ahead and put it in the incubator at 25 C to get the yeast going, then we’ll back it down a little tomorrow.
